Cajeput is one of my favourite decongestants and has a gentler action then the more commonly used eucalyptus oil. If you suffer from sinusitis use 3 drops of Cajeput to 10mls (2 teaspoons) carrier oil and rub gently on your face over your forehead and cheek areas.Use an inhalation method to loosen mucous and use cajeput in a chest rub for coughs and colds.
One of Cajeput's other main strengths lies in its ability to relieve pain. I have used 1 drop neat for toothache and it is a great oil to use for back pain. This is one of the oils that I would use on my clients presenting with sciatica.
Harness the pain relieving properties of Cajeput for earache too. Put a couple of drops of cajeput into a teaspoon of carrier oil ( even better if you warm the oil!) and soak a piece of cotton wool in the blend and place in the ear.
On a spiritual level Cajeput is an excellent way to focus the mind during meditation and encourages our commitment to a spiritual pathway.
