Myrtle is excellent for the problems of the respiratory system and is so gentle that it can even be used on babies and young children.

It is very gentle and will help to combat infection, expel mucus and induce relaxation. Use 2 drops Myrtle for a child and for a baby 1 drop on a piece of cotton wool placed at the bottom of the cot will help baby to breathe more easily.  It can also be used as a chest rub. You will only need 1 drop Myrtle to 15mls (3 teaspoons) carrier oil for a baby and for a young child 1 drop to 10mls (2 teaspoons) carrier oil. An adult will require 3 drops Myrtle to 10mls (2 teaspoons) carrier oil.
I like to blend Myrtle, Cajeput and Ravensara together in an adult blend.

The Ancient Greeks loved Myrtle and they associated it with Aphrodite – the Goddess of love and beauty. It is useful for all types of skin. Myrtle helps to balance oily skin and is an excellent tonic for the skin. Mature skin will also benefit from regular use of Myrtle. Try 1 drop Myrtle, 1 drop Neroli and 1 drop Frankincense in 10gms of cream.

Myrtle can help to dispel stress and tension and calm anger and frustration. You can put a few drops Myrtle in an oil burner or try 2 drops Myrtle, 2 drops Sandalwood and 2 drops Ylang Ylang in your bath.

On a spiritual level Myrtle encourages communication with like-minded souls.
