Peppermint is a great pain reliever, very cooling, stimulating and provides a tonic for all the systems of the body

For pain relief try a peppermint compress to relieve muscular aches and joint pains. Put 3 drops Peppermint and 3 drops Lavender OR 2 drops Peppermint, 2 drops Niaouli and 2 drops Lavender into a small bowl of warm water, soak up the solution with an absorbent material such as a flannel and place over the affected area.

A cold compress of Peppermint and lavender placed on the forehead or the back of the neck is a great way to reduce a fever.

If the pain is very severe – for instance if you have a Tennis Elbow – put 1 drop neat over the affected area. This will cause a numbing effect.. Don’t use neat Peppermint on the face as you want to avoid the eyes. For toothache too use one drop neat on your finger and rub into the gum.

Another popular use is for the digestive system, as it seems to help flatulence, encourage digestion and appetite, alleviate nausea and ease cramps and diarrhoea.  Use 1 drop Peppermint, 1 drop Chamomile and 1 drop Ginger in 10mls (2 teaspoons) carrier oil and massage the abdomen gently in a clockwise direction. Alternatively make a compress.

Peppermint is used to boost mental clarity and alertness.
It’s a good oil to burn at work and also if you are studying.

Peppermint is recommended in times of crisis as it strengthens yet numbs the nerves.

To cool down sunburn Peppermint can be used together with Lavender in my body lotion which can be found on this website.

On a spiritual level Peppermint fills us with perseverance and gives us that extra push along our pathways.
