Although Spearmint and Peppermint have similar benefits Spearmint is a more gentle, sweeter oil. I think the aroma is fabulous!

Spearmint can be used to boost your mood, mental clarity and alertness. Simply put a couple of drops on a handkerchief, tissue, or cotton wool pad and inhale whenever necessary. If you want to use Spearmint when you are working or studying put a few drops in an oil burner, It will also keep the insects at bay and help you to breathe better! Use Spearmint on its own or try it with Basil or Rosemary or Bay to stimulate the mind.

One very popular use is for the digestive system, as it seems to help flatulence, encourage digestion and appetite, alleviate nausea and ease cramps and diarrhoea. Spearmint is also good for pain relief. Try 1 drop Spearmint, 1 drop Lavender, 1 drop Clary Sage in 10mls (2 teaspoons) carrier oil and massage it gently on the abdomen in a clockwise direction for cramps and flatulence and pain relief. Put a drop of Spearmint on a tissue if you are feeling nauseous or try Spearmint and Ginger together,

Spearmint can also alleviate muscular aches and pains due to its antispasmodic and pain relieving properties. Try 2 drops Spearmint, 2 drops Cinnamon and 2 drops Lavender in the bath.

It’s great for headaches too! To make a compress fill a small bowl with water and add 2 drops Spearmint and 2 drops Lavender , use any absorbent material such as a flannel to soak up the solution and then place the compress on the back of your neck or forehead.

Spearmint has been found to ease the symptoms of colds.
Burn Spearmint and Ravensara together to clear your head and to minimise coughing.

Spearmint is a good overall tonic. It balances us on all levels.

On a spiritual level Spearmint helps us to feel grounded and secure as we walk our pathways.
