DetailsYarrow is an excellent oil for soothing inflammation. It is like a stronger Chamomile
Try a compress to ease the discomfort of a sprained ankle, a pulled muscle, sports injury or arthritis. Put 2 drops Yarrow, 2 drops Chamomile and 2 drops Spearmint or Peppermint in a bowl of water, soak up the mixture with any absorbent material such as a flannel and place on the affected area.
Use cold compresses for the first 24 hours of an injury and thereafter both cold and warm compresses can be applies.
A compress on the abdomen will also help to relieve irritable bowel syndrome as it calms down the inflammation and also the anxiety which so often accompanies this condition.
It’s calming and soothing oil for the nervous system. It slows down the mind and soothes anger and irritability.
I have many clients who find Yarrow very useful for their nervous pets esoecially if they are due to visit the vet!
Yarrow is also frequently used for female problems. It helps all kinds of menstrual irregularities – scanty or painful periods, irregular periods and heavy menstruation.
It is an ideal choice for the menopause. Try 1 drop Yarrow and 1 drop Rose and 1 drop Cypress in 10mls (2 teaspoons) carrier oil or put 2 drops of each of these oils in your bath.
You can also put a couple of drops of any of these oils on a tissue or cotton wool pad and inhale at regular intervals.
On a spiritual level Yarrow is protective and also helps us to release past trauma.
